Thank you for bringing one of ours home. It asks for almost nothing — here's the little it does.
There's no switch to find at 3 a.m. A small light sensor on the base simply notices how bright the room is. As the evening light fades it comes on by itself, and when morning fills the room it goes back to sleep.
So if you plug it in during the day and nothing happens, nothing is wrong. Wait for dusk — or cup your hand over the little dome on the base and watch it glow.
Any standard North American outlet. It sits flush to the wall with the panel facing into the room. Leave the little light sensor uncovered — not tucked behind a curtain or a dresser, and not right under a lamp that stays on all night, or it will think it's still daytime. Where you can, choose an outlet above little hands.
Dust it with a soft, dry cloth. No water, sprays or polish — the panel is sculpted with fine detail and likes to stay dry. Keep it out of direct sun and away from heaters. The LED stays cool, so the panel never gets warm.
Leave it plugged in. It uses about 1.5 watts — a few cents a month — so there's nothing to remember and nothing to turn off. It's made for every night, and many families keep it on the wall well past the nursery years.
Is the room dark enough?
Cup your hand over the dome on the base. If it glows, it's working — it's just waiting for dusk.
Try another outlet, and check the panel is seated.
If the panel has come away from the base in transit, it presses straight back on — gently, until it sits flush.
